Fat Kid Rules the World Book Review

Fat Kid Rules the World
Fat Kid Rules the World by KL Going, is a real, funny book. Troy Billings is a 298 pound senior and is about to kill himself, when Curt Macray, a skinny, junkie, dropout musical legend stops him from stepping in front of the subway. Curt and Troy make a band between the two of them, with curt on guitar and Troy on drums. Though Troy can’t play them. Curt teaches Troy cow to play the drums, after getting Troy to stop feeling sorry for himself and to start rocking out. Curt is a drug addict and Troy knows it, but Troy doesn’t try to stop him because he doesn’t want to lose Curt as a friend. After practicing for five weeks, “Rage/Tectonic”, is ready to play at the local stage the Dump.
The theme of the book is no matter what you look like and no matter who you are you can rock out. Troy thinks he can’t do anything because he’s fat. He thinks people think he’s funny and stare at him. Curt helps him realize that people don’t. This eventually makes Troy realize he can be a drummer.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read something different. Young kids shouldn’t read this because there is drug use and a lot of swearing. This book was kind of hard to follow because of some the confusing stuff they did and talked about. I personally love this and enjoyed it a lot. This book is different, funny and hardcore, so read it.

The Anybodies: Book Review

The Anybodies by N.E. Bode is a book about a girl switched at birth. Fern an imaginitive girl lives with her extremeley dull and boring parents, the Drudgers. One day a man called the Bone comes to their door saying that Fern is his daughter and the boy that he has is the Drudger's son and they have the Bone's kid. After they discussed the problem, they decide to trade kids for the summer. Fern learns about a magical organization called the Anbodies, she finds out from the Bone that her mother was one and had a book called The Art of Being Anbody. The Bone tells Fern that they need to find the book before a mysterious man named the Miser gets it and uses the book for bad. Fern and the Bone go to Fern's grandmothers house to look for the book. Fern learns she has an ability to shake objects from books, and while looking for the Art of Being Anbody, Fern learns to master her talent of book-shaking. After having her Dad get kidnapped and learns about her Mother and Grandmother, Fern goes against the Miser and finds the Art of Being Anbody.

The Anybodies was about a girl finding out who she is and who she wants to be. In the book she gets to discover who her parents are and that changes her whole outlook on life. Fern also learns what home is, after going with the Bone she has trouble determining where her home is. She also learns to love her and accept that her mother is dead. Overall Fern learns to love and let go.

I would recommend this book to almost anybody. The Anybodies is a uplifting book, that leaves you wanting more. I would read this book over and over/ It has magic, drama, and a lot of mystery. Which is what I think makes up a great book The Anybodies is a great book everybody should read.

Ahna's Science Essay

 Dear Human Body Corporation:
Don’t fire the nervous system. If you get rid of me you will never be able to see, touch, smell, taste or hear again. Of course, if the nervous system is gone you wouldn’t ever be able to think again without your brain. Don’t forget about the diseases you will get, if you make the mistake of firing me. Do you want to be a senseless, brain dead, forgetful creep for the rest of your life?
Without the nervous system you would have no senses. Put you hand in a fire you won’t feel anything. All your reflexes will leave with the NS. Do you enjoy your eyes? Then prepare for complete darkness. If you like your senses don’t get rid of the nervous system.
No me, no brain. Without your brain you won’t be able to send messages to your body. Any thinking you might do, well that will all be gone without your brain. Also, you will never be able to do anything you want again. Have fun without your brain.
If you get rid of me, you will get many diseases, including Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Tourettes. With Parkinson’s diseases you will lose all the nerves that control your muscles. Alzheimer’s attacks you brain (which you won’t have) and causes memory loss. Tourettes gives you uncontrollable tics and causes involuntary movements. None of that sounds good to you? Well don’t fire me!
That is a bout it if you want to be a zombie with no senses, an empty head and diseases, go ahead and fires me. Remember that you will never be able to watch Barney again, or be able to think about it afterward and, even remember you favorite TV show. Imagine yourself with no senses, empty head, and lots of diseases. Don’t want yourself to be a freak? Then don’t fire the nervous system!!!
Sincerely your loyal friend through the years,
The Nervous System

Laptops are awesome and every kid should have one. Every kid have one because some kids don’t have them. Kids could do work on them. Students would also know more about computers.  There should be laptops provided for every kid at BMS.

Some kids don’t have computers. At school sometimes not enough computers for everyone. Laptops for every one would solve that. At home kids may have computers, but they could already belong to another family member. Laptops at school would make school more fun for the kids who don’t have computers, as well as kids who do.

If kids get laptops they could do work on them. Kids would get more work done. They could work with programs like Microsoft and PowerPoint. With Google they could have faster research. Work would be better with laptops.

Kids could learn more about computers. They would know how to work with computers better. They could work with cool programs on them. Kids could learn more about almost anything with the internet. Kids could know much more about computers.

That’s why a laptop should be provided to every student. Some kids don’t have access to computers. Kids would have better work and neater essays. Students would know more about computers. Kids will live a horrible life without laptops.

Chasing Redbird: Review

Chasing Redbird by Sharon Creech is about is girl and her trail. Zinny Taylor is the middle child in a family of 8, who feels lonely and slightly neglected. Zinny's sister May has always been the prettier one, and when Jake Boone comes to town and seems to like Zinny, Zinny thinks he is just trying to get to May. Zinny's uncle Nate starts to get sick and Zinny takes him to a little cabin she found while working on her trail. After nearly dying, uncle Nate is OK and after Zinny finds out that Jake really likes her, Zinny learns that it wasn't her fault her Aunt died and to trust a little easier.
I like this book because it was very real book. this book seemed like something that could rally happen. I would recommend this book to someone likes down to earth, good books. I didn't really like how there was so much death involved with this book. It made the book almost sad for me.
I think the theme of the book is finding yourself and forgiveness. Zinny, through working on the trail, and experiencing death, knows herself better. Zinny also has to forgive herself about accidentally causing her Aunt's death. Zinny also has to learn to trust and love. Zinny, through the trail and other experiences learned how to trust and eventually love.
